Earth Hour – March 28th, 2009

Posted by: Julene Reed | March 10, 2009 | 2 Comments |

Drawing attention to climate change to invoke actions to reduce carbon footprints, greenhouse gases, etc. is the purpose of the WWF’s Earth Hour. It is by stopping the negative effects of climate change that we will be able to help preserve the habitat of the polar bears. Read more about Earth Hour 2009 below, and join the efforts!

The World Wildlife Fund wants the world to “turn out the lights” for one hour – EARTH HOUR – on March 28th at 8:30 p.m. local time to make a global statement of concern for climate change. In the past, cities around the world have “blacked out” their skylines, and homes and businesses have done the same. Check out the Earth Hour website, and watch the video to learn more about Earth Hour 2009!

WWF has Earth Hour resources for teachers and parents available on their website.

There are other Earth Hour tools available on their site, too.

Turn out your lights and share the message on March 28th!

Thanks for promoting Earth Hour! Another way you can recruit people to the cause is by creating an Earth Hour group on Commit21.com. Simply create a group about one action that you will commit to do for Earth Hour and recruit your friends, family, and co-workers to get involved in that action as well. When it comes to climate change, simple actions can make huge differences and Commit21 leverages social media to influence networks of friends, family, and co-workers. Check it out!

The new Vote Earth 2009 global website has launched. There is an element on the site that incorporates Google’s Friend Connect and we want to get 1 billion people on the site by November before Copenhagen. A big ask, so we need some help.

To get involved, all you need to do is:
1. Go to the site – http://www.voteearth2009.org
2. Register with Friend Connect
3. Send to a friend and get more people to sign up.

We need to get as many people as we can involved. So please encourage your friends to get involved.

Get involved and VOTE EARTH!
